Founders, Alchemy 365, Transformation Specialists
About Mike Jones
Pursuing your personal legend means moving towards your goals and relishing the experiences on the road to meeting those goals. Alchemy is founded on those principles, and its founders seek to pursue their legends as well.
My path into adulthood led me to join the Marine Corps as an infantry officer out of college. I knew this wouldn’t be my career for the next thirty years, but I wanted to 1) do something cool, 2) serve my people, and 3) challenge myself; looking back that was probably the order of priority. Mission accomplished! In four short years I fought in two wars, led Marines in battle, travelled to foreign lands, learned about different cultures, leadership, history, and humanity.
I left the Marines a more capable person, armed only with the knowledge that I wanted the type of work I deemed important, and that directly helped people. I also thought I might want to start a business someday. I’ve spent the past 10 years pushing hard towards that ambiguous but at the same time clear goal. I continued my education by getting an MBA. I worked at one of the world’s great companies (3M). I started a business over six years ago that I continue to work on and grow(Union Fitness). I had three kids in the last 5 years. This year, with some amazing partners I started Alchemy, a feat I’d have been incapable of executing if I tried to launch it 10 years ago. You see, the road less travelled, the sacrifices and choices I’ve made, marked the milestones and lessons I needed to make Alchemy happen.
I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing 10 years from now, but I’ll be pursuing my legend, which has refined into this – I do work that helps people live better lives. I will pursue this legend with vigor, and I’ll enjoy the ups and downs that I will experience along the way.
Now let me ask you, what is your legend and how will you pursue it?
About Andrea Jones
I picked up The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho in 2003 not knowing that it would change my life. Working as an intelligence analyst at the time, I carried my Brazilian dictionary and copy of the Alchemist with me for weeks, carefully translating its words and processing Santiago’s journey while working abroad. A dozen years later, now operating under the business name Alchemy, the story still hits home and continues to push me to try new endeavors and overcome fears. These are the top three lessons I learned that are still explicable today:
Lesson 1: Follow your passion.
If you not sure what that means, start paying attention to the conversations and activities that bring you energy. Take a look at the people you spend time with and try to spend more time with those that light you up. Think of a time when you dared to dream of accomplishing anything without fear of how it may look or whether it would pay the bills. That is your purpose, your passion, your Personal Legend. You may have more than one passion, and it may take a seemingly wrong turn before you find it. It took leaving my family, friends, career, and the state of Virginia in 2007 before I took the plunge (and serious pay cut) to discover and pursue my passion for fitness. If still aren’t sure. Come to Alchemy. The strength and support, and absolute fun experience is the perfect place to be inspired and share your passion.
Lesson 2: Take action.
Discovering your Personal Legend is like honing your internal compass. That being said, we may stop and reorient but we always march forward. The end goal is important but not as important as the actions we take to get there, and really where is “there”? In taking action, you might discover a new path or transformation that aligns with your internal compass and further fuels your passion(s). The hardest part is taking the first step. Alchemy is my new path. It drives my passion to make a credible group fitness that delivers results accessible to the masses.
Lesson 3: Enjoy the Journey
The alchemist says to Santiago, “before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream.”Which brings me to my last point and my daily affirmation. Enjoy the journey. Set time each day to identify what’s going well without letting qualifiers like “could, should, and if only” muck it up. When you come in for a workout, recognize that it won’t always go as planned but you showed up. The failures and set backs we encounter are part of the journey. Embrace it.
Andrea Jones is a coach and founder of Alchemy and Union Fitness. When she is not working, working out, or hanging with her 3 small children, you can find her sipping on a Brasa Breeze.

DJ Sol Rising
International Recording Artist
Sol Rising’s original soundscapes evoke feelings of inspiration and bliss through an eclectic mix of electronic music, mid-tempo house, chill-trap, ambient and hip-hop.
Born in Vancouver BC, raised in Fairfield Iowa, Sol Rising began meditating at age four with a walking mantra technique. His mother took him to visit numerous spiritual teachers, who inspired him on the spiritual path he walks today. As a teenager, he became a hip hop fanatic. His rooted interest in hip hop led him to learning the art of scratching — using turntables as musical instruments. Sol Rising soon became one of America’s top scratch DJs, winning second place at the DMC, the world’s most prestigious DJ competition.

This lead him to study audio engineering and production at Pyramind Studios in San Francisco, CA.
Now a successful Producer/DJ, with over 6 albums released, Sol Rising plays events throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia at festivals such as Wanderlust, Burning Man, Symbiosis and Lightning in a Bottle. Emily took her first yoga class over 15 years ago and hated every minute of it. She had paid for a whole series though, so she stuck it out. It took awhile, but she slowly realized that the more she practiced, the more at home she felt in her own body and mind. Emily finds that the challenges and successes she meets on her yoga mat teach her so much about navigating the rest of her life. Her other loves are exploring in the outdoors, playing in the kitchen, and finding small ways to have an adventure every day.
Emily completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in the summer of 2013, and her classes are a blend of mindfulness, flow, and thoughtful challenges. She had her first son in 2015 and found pre-natal yoga to be a wonderful way to feel comfortable in her changing body and to prepare physically and mentally for childbirth. Emily completed her Pre-Natal Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Den Studios in 2016.
